As the only organized footrace inside the national park, Cades Cove Loop Lope 5K and 10-mile race is an extraordinary experience for runners. Matt Shinall participated in the 2021 race and documented his experience on YouTube.
The event raised over $100,000 for park projects and programs such as historic preservation, wildlife conservation, native plant and grassland restoration and much more.
Cades Cove Loop Lope will return for its sixth year in 2022 on Sunday, November 13th. Registration will open this summer (Date TBA). Last year, the event sold out in just a few weeks. Sign up to receive email alerts about registration and race details: https://friendsofthesmokies.org/looplope.
