As you may know from our previous blog posts, we have had some exciting staffing changes in our North Carolina office. In March, Anna took over the role of North Carolina Director after Holly Demuth’s departure. That left Anna’s old position of Outreach & Development Associate vacant and as smart and capable as she is, we didn’t want her to have to handle it all alone in Waynesville.
Enter stage right: Marielle!
After a thorough search, we found Marielle DeJong who was wrapping up an internship with the superintendent’s office over at the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Marielle is a 2015 graduate of the University of North Carolina where she received a B.A. in American Studies with honor and distinction. At UNC, Marielle was a Morehead-Cain Scholar and did her fair share of globe-trotting with internships and study abroad adventures taking her to Montana, Wyoming, Australia, and Swaziland.
As if all that wasn’t enough, she co-founded Brevard Tiny House Company with her sister and brother-in-law and they currently have a production schedule booked through 2017.
Marielle likes to spend her spare time outdoors and is an avid hiker.
We are thrilled to add Marielle to our small but determined staff. She will be on hand for our Classic Hikes of the Smokies and of course the Gran Fondo Asheville coming up in a few weeks.
